Functional Training Masterclass

1-day course specially developed for the Functional training specialist!

Course Objectives:
The focus of the workshop is the learning of the most common basic principles such as corrective exercises using the RNT Band, fascia training, Bodyweight training (including Ground Based Patterns), Kettlebell training and Suspension training.
You will learn how to create an intelligent and time-saving functional training program as a fitness or personal trainer, as an athlete or a rehabilitation professional. The Functional Training Fundamentals Workshop offers a holistic training concept, developed and implemented by the pioneers of functional training. (Mike Boyle, Gray Cook, Mark Verstegen, and others).

Learning Goals:
After the workshop, you will be able to develop a useful training program with various training equipment
• Learning a session design, which can be used ideally for different target groups
• Practical instruction in the most important training tools in functional training

Accreditatie KNGF: In aanvraag voor het register Algemeen- of Sportfysiotherapeuten.
Deze cursus is geschikt voor (sport)fysiotherapeuten, manueel therapeuten en personal trainers.
What you will learn about the theory:
1)
Introduction to Functional Training and functional anatomy
2) Explanation of the Joint-By-Joint Approach
3) Explanation of the rationale of looking at movement compentence
4) Intelligent session design in functional training
5) Basics of the movement patterns of the human body
6) Theoretical basis of the most important components of the functional training equipment

What you will learn in practice:
1) Learn the most important exercise patterns and exercises with your own body weight:

Fundamental patterns of movement including body weight movements in athletic stance phases - double leg stance, split stance and single leg stance. On the course we will identify progressions from rehabilitation to performance progressing through competent athletic development.

2) Learning the most important movement patterns and exercises using Kettlebells:
The centrated weight of the kettlebell provides an optimal opportunity to restore and develop fundamental movement patterns and postural control. On the course we will be teaching you key kettlebell exercises through deadlift patterns, the Turkish Get Up and Loaded Carries.

3) Learning the most important movement patterns and exercises using suspension trainer:
The suspension trainer provides an opportunity to manipulate the bodies centre of mass, and reduce weight bearing to allow for pattern development. On the course we will be covering plank, deadlift and squat progressions along with performance training for athletic development.

4) Learning the most important corrective exercise interventions utilizing a RNT band:
The Reactive Neuromuscular Training band is utilized in the motor control relearning process to allow the body to learn from its compensations. On the course we will be teaching you when you should be using the RNT Band for Reactive Neuromuscular Training to help restore movement competency with Dynamic Motor Control Exercises.

5) Learning the most important ground based movement progressions:
We start our life on the floor, developing competency rolling and crawling before transitioning into standing. Ground based movements of rolling, crawling and locomotion provide us with large amounts of proprioception in a primitive manner. In the rehabilitation process and as part of a restorative exercise, ground based movement patterns are a fantastic exercise in the tool box of an exercise professional.
