Ph.D. Goran Markovic

Dr. Goran Markovic (1975) is an Associate Professor of Kinesiology at the School of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, Croatia, where he heads the Laboratory for Motor Control and Human Performance. He teaches Motor Control and Strength & Conditioning at undergraduate and graduate levels. He obtained MEd (1999), MSc (2002) and PhD (2004) degrees in Kinesiology from University of Zagreb, Croatia. He obtained post-doctoral training in Motor Control at the University of Delaware (2006-2007). He also obtained BSc in Kinesiotherapy from University of Split. His primary research interests include neuromuscular and mechanical aspects of human movement and performance, acute and chronic adaptation to exercise training and disuse, and optimizing sports performance. Within these areas, he has (co)-authored > 50 papers in leading international journals and 3 book chapters. He serves as member of the Editorial board of 3 journals, and as a reviewer for more than 20 international journals in the area of sports sciences and sports medicine. He gave lectures and talks at more than 30 international professional meetings and seminars.

Since 1999, Dr. Markovic works as a performance & rehab specialist at National and International levels. He worked with (or consulted) numerous national- and international-level athletes or teams in several sports including taekwondo, football, volleyball, basketball, and tennis. In particular, he worked with medal winners at Summer Olympic Games, European and World Championships in Taekwondo, members of the Croatian National Teams, and winners of the National Championship and National Cup in Volleyball (altogether >15 medals won at European / World / Olympic Championships). He is a co-founder and director of “Motus Melior” Sports & Rehabilitation Center - a unique institution in Croatia devoted to sports performance enhancement & injury prevention and rehabilitation.
